HISTORY AND CULTURAL LIFE OF BARRIO APSAYAN
Barangay Apsayan is the home of “NO RETURN” a place where your loved ones will comfortably rest in peace forever for reasons that this barangay is the site of the Municipal Cemetery of Gerona. Apsayan was formerly a sitio of Barangay Buenlag. It was only in the year 1950 when it officially became one of the barrio of the Municipality of Gerona. This place was traversed by a wide and deep river coming from the south to the north and when you examined its shape it looks like a big “PASAYAN”, a big shrimp called Lobster. This river was also the breeding place of Pasayan because of its abundance. This is where this barangay got its name from Pasayan and now APSAYAN. Ilocanos were the first inhabitants of this place.
