On the day of the funeral of former President Benigno S. Aquino III, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) offers a wreath to his bust at the NHCP Presidential Car Museum (PCM) in Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.

The NHCP acknowledged Aquino’s role in the establishment of the PCM in its message of condolences. It read in part, “It was President Aquino’s idea to refurbish the Palace’s collection of old presidential vehicles sitting in storage and exhibit them to the public — which culminated into the inauguration of the Presidential Car Museum at the Quezon Memorial Circle on 19 August 2018.”

The bust of Aquino was made by Juan Sajid Imao in 2017 and was to be displayed when a presidential car he used became available for the Museum.

The National Flag continues to fly at half-mast in the NHCP Central Office in Manila and its museums throughout the Philippines during the ten-day period of national mourning declared by Proclamation No. 1169 s. 2021.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
